Inside My Head…No2

18th September 2016

inside-my-head-no-2

For those of you who have followed me from the beginning, you will know I started this blog to capture my journey following a Paleo lifestyle and record how it has helped me live and improve my life with an autoimmune disease.

A place I can record and share my latest Paleo recipe inventions and make new like minded friends. I also want this blog to be a portal for my creative side, somewhere I can share a snapshot of all the things running through my mind at any one time.

Whether these thoughts be food, fashion, health & well-being or just completely random snippets of life. So here it is…a look at what has captured my attention, made me lust after or just something I want to share with you all.

The Embroidery Trend

The Embroidered Trend – Everywhere I look lately I’m bombarded with all things embroidered and I’m in love. From the beautiful YSL velvet bag through to beautiful boots, denim & this leather skirt from Topshop. As the YSL number is a little out of my price range I’d settle for this incredibly cute Zara clutch instead.

Williams Sonoma Spiced Chestnut Range - You know I have this huge obsession with Williams Sonoma, not helped by the fact they are not in the UK. Whenever I'm in the states around this time of year I cant help but buy just about everything from the Spiced Chestnut range. It just smells soooo good!

paleoinheels.com Chilli Chorizo Chicken Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti Squash Season – Walking through Whole Foods during the week I spied my most wanted vegetable the glorious golden spaghetti squash. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that it’s so hard to come by here that I want it. Yes, I will part with the best part of £10 just so I can make my amazing Chilli Chicken & Chorizo Spaghetti Squash Pasta

Alexander McQueen Pearl & Unicorn Brooch

Alexander McQueen Pearl & Unicorn Brooch – Looking through Stylist magazine on my morning commute I spotted this little gem & I just cant stop thinking about it. I have no idea how I would wear it, perhaps on a blazer or at the neckline of a shirt, the spot where a bow tie would go. Either way, all I know is I WANT it.

London Fashion Week 2016

London Fashion Week – Need I say more. As a complete fashion & clothing obsessed lover, this time of year is just amazing. Not to mention all of the magazines right now are as thick as a phone book & packed full of all the exciting new things I need in my wardrobe. It’s just an exciting time, the turn of the seasons with the promise of beautiful ‘costumes’, accessories & looks to adorn ourselves with.

Wide Awake Morning Smoothie

11th September 2016

Wide Awake Smoothie | PALEOinheels.com

I love to work out first thing in the morning. I set my week day alarm for 5.30am, head straight to the gym for a mixture of weights, interval speed running & if I have time, some core work. All before getting home in time for my morning routine before leaving for work. You may have guessed, time can be tight, that’s why I love smoothies. Quick & easy, but best of all, filling and tasty. As of late my go to smoothie of choice has been my Wide Awake Morning smoothie. Made with a couple of espresso shots for that glorious caffeine hit as well as a large dose of chocolaty protein.

The perfect post workout Good Morning smoothie. You can make it without the avocado for a thinner texture but I love thick smoothies, somewhere between a milkshake & ice-cream is where it’s at for me!

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 shots of chilled espresso
  • Two scoops of chocolate protein powder
  • One cup unsweetened dairy free milk
  • One cup chilled filtered water
  • One dessertspoon cacao powder
  • One cup of frozen spinach
  • Half ripe avocado
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Make the shots of espresso the night before and leave to chill in the fridge overnight
  2. Place all ingredients into a high powered blender such as a Vitamix and blend until smooth
  3. Pour into two large glasses, top with bee pollen & cacao nibs if desired and enjoy

Acai Bowls

Inside My Head

Inside My Head

Four Seasons Hotel - Orlando

Four Seasons Hotel, Orlando – I cannot say why exactly but this place makes me so happy. It feels like a home away from home. Whenever we are in Orlando, we check in here and suddenly everything feels just right.

Acai Bowls

Acai Smoothie Bowls – I think these need no explaining, ever since my latest trip to Boston, I’ve been hooked on these. Thankfully Wholefoods near to my office sell them, so I pretty much have Acai in my veins!

Kikki K Wellness Planner

Kikki K Wellness Planner – Have you seen these? They are brilliant. A a cross between a personal planner & a journal but designed around health, wellness, mindfullness, nutrition & exercise. I love it.

Boston

Boston Common – I had such a great time in Boston a few weeks ago, grabbing almond milk latte at the Thinking Cup and then an early walk through the sun soaked common to start the trail. It’s just been on my mind and another place I’m adding of ‘Places I Want To Live

Taste of Autumn

Autumn – Summer was always my favourite but in reality, commuting on trains in 35 degree heat with no aircon really isn’t that appealing. Where as Autumn still has blue skies, warm sunshine but you can wear layers which lets face it, looks extra stylish (see my wardrobe pics here) You can have everything Pumpkin Spice and not feel like a crazy person. Then there is Halloween, hot chocolate in front of the TV before bed, the promise of Christmas just around the corner.

Hems

Healthy Cheat Meals – You know I don’t really do cheat meals anymore as it’s too  much for my sensitive gut to take. However occasionally I do like to indulge in something resembling comfort food. Before Paleo, my favourite dish was spaghetti carbonara. Thanks to Hemsley & Hemsley I’ve been able to enjoy this dish again without the bloating and gluten attacks to my gut. Celeriac Carbonara is where it’s at for ‘cheat meals’
