For those of you who have followed me from the beginning, you will know I started this blog to capture my journey following a Paleo lifestyle and record how it has helped me live and improve my life with an autoimmune disease.
A place I can record and share my latest Paleo recipe inventions and make new like minded friends. I also want this blog to be a portal for my creative side, somewhere I can share a snapshot of all the things running through my mind at any one time.
Whether these thoughts be food, fashion, health & well-being or just completely random snippets of life. So here it is…a look at what has captured my attention, made me lust after or just something I want to share with you all.
Girl Crushes – I have admired Barbara Martelo & Emmanuelle Alt for some time. I mean have you seen these women? Their style is just incredible. As I’m transitioning my wardrobe over for AW, I look to places like Pinterest for inspiration and cannot help but lust after everything they wear. Both so stylish, they make even the most simplest of outfits look so curated.
Lydia Elise Millen – Carrying on with girl crushes I’m just obsessed with this beauty. I’ve followed Lydia on Instagram for ages but recently I subscribed to her YouTube channel & Blog. I’m hooked! Such a pretty person inside & out. I love how we much we have in common therefore I’m loving everything she posts about. She’s very open, funny and has amazing style. She has inspired me on so many occasions, I find myself eager for the next post. I’ve convinced my husband to follow her boyfriend and even dabbled in a nude lip which I have to say, I love 🙂 If you are not following her, you’re missing out.
Slow Cooker Recipes – What more can I say? The temperature has dropped, the nights are longer and I’m craving delicious slow cooked meats. Searching through recipes, I came across the Wicked Spatula. You have to check out her recipes. So far I have tried three, and every single one has just been spot on delicious. I have the Apple, Cinnamon & Honey Pork Fillet cooking as I type and the general Tso’s chicken is better than any takeaway.
Made By Zen – Aroma diffusers. I recently saw the Soto diffuser on one of Lydia Millen’s video posts and ever since then I have really wanted one. I’m a huge fan of scents around the home, especially at this time of year. I always have scented candles burning or various room sprays. The problem is good scented candles are expensive and room spray scents do not last long not to mention it’s relatively difficult to find quality natural products . I think I’m going to add this to my christmas wish list. It has Christmas gift written all over it. I’ll also add the White Companies Winter Oil to the list for the smell of Christmas in a bottle!
Red Eyeshadow – I know, red right? But trust me it looks amazing. I wondered into MAC on my lunch break and asked them to demo it for me. I was blown away. I went to purchase it there and then but its been so popular it had sold out. Gutted. I received so many compliments that day, I’ll definitely be buying some when its back.
Having enjoyed & reviewed the Soupologie range in the past, when asked to try the latest product, Soupologie’s Three Mushroom Broth, I jumped at the chance. Enriched with vitamin D which occurs naturally within the Shiitake, Porcini & Reishi mushrooms, this broth is truly nourishing.
Soupologie steep and brew the mushrooms to create a deeply satisfying flavour to enjoy as a soup, a drink or as a delicious stock. Plant based, gluten & dairy free and two of your five a day, what is not to love?
I absolutely loved this broth, it truly was delicious. A comforting mushroom flavour with a background of onion & herbs. I drank a cup as a standalone broth but once I tasted how deep and warming the flavour was, I decided to use it as the broth in a ramen dish. Trust me, you have to do this. It takes Ramen to another level. I made this Paleo Ramen dish and used free range pork tenderloin rather than chicken, all I can say is you need this in your life.
Thanks Soupolgie, you have done it again, another superstar to add to the list. Three Mushroom Broth can be purchased from Ocado and all good grocery stores.
I hope your week is going well. Mine is just a four day week, woohoo. I’ve booked this Friday out to attend the Stylist Live event. I cannot wait. i went last year and absolutely loved it. Anyway back to this recipe post. Those of you who follow me on Instagram have no doubt seen the many posts of my Chocolate Orange smoothie which I am just addicted to. I cannot describe how amazing it is. It’s incredibly creamy thanks to the avocado and then there is all of that orange & chocolate deliciousness which just tastes divine, like it should be a thousand calories in a glass but is actually just over 300! I mean not that I count calories but I know a lot of people do. Not only is it low calorie super high on taste, it’s packed with protein and good satisfying fats. This means it’s going to keep you full all morning. Seriously what is not to love?
You’ll usually find me devouring one of these at least two to three times per week, straight after the gym. It’s just the best, honest you have to try it. Try sprinkling a little Paleo granola on top for some texture and crunch. I love Primrose Kitchen Orange & Cashew granola with this smoothie.
I hope you’re having a fab weekend. Don’t you think weekends just fly by? Before you know it, it’s Sunday already. Sunday isn’t too bad though as its brunch day! That’s why I’m making my super easy delicious tomato & sausage turmeric frittata. It’s the perfect little dish for brunch, breakfast and a take-with-you snack. Plus you can make it in advance to save time, so all in all its just perfect.
As you know, I always add turmeric to my eggs due to its anti-inflammatory properties but you don’t have to if its not for you. Another reason I love this recipe is because you can change it up depending upon your mood. For instance if you fancy a bit of heat, why not add some chilli flakes and chorizo or fancy breakfast ‘pizza’ add some sliced pepperoni & maybe a handful of cooked kale. See its the best brunch frittata.
So here goes…
Four eggs – I like Clarence Court Burford Brown
Two Paleo sausages, skins removed and chopped into small pieces – I use M&S 97% Sausages containing 97% meat, salt & pepper only
One tomato thinly sliced
Half tsp turmeric powder
One tsp dried oregano
One heaped tsp fennel seeds
Salt & Pepper for seasoning
Oil for frying
Chopped cooked mushrooms
Chopped Chorizo or Pepperoni
Tsp chilli flakes
Diced cooked bell pepper
Large handful of cooked kale
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Heat an ovenproof skillet on a medium high heat with a dash of oil and once hot fry chopped up sausage pieces until cooked through.
Meanwhile whisk eggs, oregano, turmeric, salt & pepper in a bowl.
Once sausages have cooked around 5-7 minutes stir in the whisked egg mixture. As the eggs begin to set, lay tomato slices on top and sprinkle with fennel seeds.
Place on the top shelf of the oven for around 20minutes or until the middle is no longer wobbly.
